This song is not about a chicken walking down a road and having hiccups but instead the decaying mental state of the wiggles because the hiccups in this context mean the mental break downs the line "Give that chicken some water, please." is showing that in the low mental state of the wiggles they are seeking help to stop the nightmares and the suffering. The road in this metaphor is the state of the wiggles at the beginning of the road the wiggles are fine but by the time they are all the way down the there is no hope and this reinforces the water line.
