Two people started off being friends (but it was all pretend) meaning they new it was to be more than friendship but they tried not to acknowledge it even tho they were both aware. One of the lovers became very attached (all u'd ever hear me say is how I pictured me and you) and there life was revolving around the other person but the dedication was not being returned truthfully, the lover did dedicate time and ebergy to the relationship but they didn't truely love them. It meant nothing and now the relationship has ended the truley in love one has been set free to find real love and is no longer letting there life revolve around someone who wasnt deserving of it.

Basically kelly or this person in the song has been through some very hard relationships and general hardship in life, this person has always been there supporting her but she has just been oblivious to it. And then she finds love in this person when they help her to see who she is and makes her realise life aint so bad after all. Or when she thought there was no hope of finding love again or a relationhsip where she wasnt used and abused. And she can hardly believe she has found this person, or rly the person has found her.
