The meaning to this song is pretty clear. It is an upbeat song saying to love yourself - including the attributes about yourself that make you different. Because your differences are what makes you special and unique. I really love what "glee" did with this song. In the episode, each character opened up about one big issue or characteristic that made them insecure. And they embraced it. Took it, and learned to be proud of it. What an awesome message!
While I like the message in the song, there is a big part that I am against. I don't care for is gaga proclaiming this message in the name of "capital h-i-m". She continues to press this point where she says, "a different lover is not a sin, believe capital h-i-m".
I am a christian. A strong christian. Who believes that my god, jesus christ - is a just, and loving god. The positive messages relayed in this song is shown everywhere in the bible.
I mean, just read 1 corinthians 13: 4-13. God is love. And I know that satan, the devil, "capital h-i-m". Whatever you want to call him - is the opposite god. He (satan) rejoices in pain, exclusion, loneliness. Etc. I find it very ironic that he would be correlated with such a positive, uplifting song. When he promotes the exact opposite.
I fully believe that god is the perfect judge. It isn't up to anyone else judge another. I find it silly that I'm even having to post this - but I believe that all individuals who have given their life to christ - regardless of sexual preference - will meet me in heaven.
I'll get off my soap box now :) again, love the message. Jesus has blessed gaga with an amazing talent.
I hope yall have a merry christmas. God bless!
