It was not at all like an explosion.
When it started, Universe was incredibly small, pressure and temperature were damn high, then, it expanded, it is not an explosion.
And no need to talk about what there was out of this small Universe before, that is totally pointless. Outside of the Universe simply does not exist.
And yes, we're lucky to be on Earth. (even if we're wasting our chance)
There are mill. No, quadrillons of stars in space, trillions of galaxies. With all this existing, counting there are also an huge number of planets. It would have been a real shame that nowhere in Space life sparked, counting the billions chance it'd had to do so.
[ Isaac, if I remember well, Mankind tried to join God by building the Tower of Babel, of course, He got angry, and destroyed the tower. To prevent it from being built again, He made people speak different languages. I'm sure Chris could confirm or correct me about this. ]
