"When my paper HEART is in a frantic wind . . ." ok? Can't believe no one can make that out -- I bet the same people know all the words to the Metalocalypse intro! My sheep, Ewe-nis, died last night (12/22/10), leaving behind two lambs. They're almost grown, but they loved their momma, and they're so sad. My husband emailed me part of the lyrics: "When my bones are tired and the end is near, I will know that I'm not alone. My whisper is heard when I call out to Him, and I'll follow the Shepherd home." I can't help but think, Ewe-nis' whisper was heard, and she followed Him home to eternal youth and joy, and green pastures forevermore. Someday, I'll see her again. She was old, and I'd only had her less than a year. I'd like to think, besides her own momma and lambs, here, with us, was probably the first time she was ever loved, and I pray she knows that, and that we're grieving and missing her. She really struggled to stay alive, but was losing the fight despite all our efforts. I finally asked Him to tell her that she could go -- she was leaving her babies in loving hands, and she can trust me to always care for them. She left a few minutes later. I guess that was all that was keeping her here -- she didn't want to leave her babies alone. She needed to know that they wouldn't be. You have no idea how poignant this song really is if you've never lived with real, honest-to-goodness sheep! God bless you Ewe-nis. You were a very good sheep and a wonderful momma. I'll always love you. 'Til we meet again.
