This song is really an interaction between significant others about the effects of infedility, being secretive, and lying. It expands the state of their relationship, how it got to this point, and how they feel unhappy with it. This also talks about the notion that ignorance is bliss. We as human beings want to know almost everything. Then, when we get the answers and gain the knowledge, we may not be happy with the results. In this song you see a constant back and forth about wanting to know the truth and not lying. You also see the results of that and how they aren’t happy with the truth they fought so hard to find out and how it is on both sides of the relationship. JID cheated on his woman and continued to lie and keep secrets which led to distrust and hiding the truth and then telling his girl basically that since you wanted to know, now you know. His woman then tells him that the truth he thought he wanted to know also wasn’t what he thought it was and how she as well cheated. Late in the song JID even admits his vulnerability and his discontent with the truth he has discovered.
