I think this song is about some-sort-of-non human thing. It meets a girl, but it wears a mask because its 'ugly'. The 'thing' is in love with the girl, but it knows that it can't be with her. It continues meet her, still wearing the mask. The thing wants to take off the mask and be with the girl, but its 'ugly'. The thing is afraid that if it shows its face she will leave him (written in the lyrics). So I think they stop meeting, and the thing blooms a flower to represent the girl. The thing is depressed and the thing wished he had shown its identity. I think the thing lived in a sandcastle, but I think it left it (in the lyrics, "sandcastle thats left alone"). The thing still wants her. It finally takes of the mask and breaks it. I think that's because if he every falls in love again, he wont have that mask to stop him. I really like this song, it has a deep meaning and I highly recommend it.
