I think "can you bear the burden" is contreversial, as it could be interpreted as being said to the women, E. G, can you bear the burden of him taking your blood etc. Or to the vampire, can he bear the burden of hurting his love.
And maybe she has become a vampire, I dunno, but the line "she will always live forever" suggest she is a think.
I think he also wants to go, not to take her blood etc, but she loves him, ad deep down he knows if he goes he'll be hurting her more. "You'll turn your back, you'll patronize She's pleading"
