The chorus has a subtle hint of suicide. Attempted suicide. This person seems to have a lot of issues. But somehow he kept it all to himself n when he attempted suicide it was a shock to everybody. He can't seem to catch a break so he has given up tryin n distanced himself from frens n family. Inspite of the grim subject matter, to me this song is also about hope. This song is about a girl who had to witness her father cheating on her mother thereby breakin his own heart because regardless of what he did he really loved her. This incident left a big and lasting impression on her leading her to believe that love is not worth all the risks. So she lived this way, keeping love out until she met a man whom she really loved. He was the only exception and she was willing to give it a shot even though he might prove her fears right and let her down.
