I believe the meaning to this song is: as we grow and go through life we face the worst of demons but staying strong and holding your head high(through constant war) will give you the strength to know who you are. And after all the things we go through in our lives all the fires we've started were just feeding our hunger to become who we want to be in life. But not everyone is as strong as they think, and just because someone says they have your back doesn't always mean they do, selfishness will cause someone to throw away or take all that was worked for. In my own opinion.
