In my opinion I think this song is about the person he loves who is either depressed or something.
"Darling I love you but you love your demons more" people often refer to their depression or thoughts of loneliness as "demons"
He's telling them not to lose hope and that he'll help in any way he can but it's up to them to want it.
I think the chorus part is him trying to get them to open up more and tell him the truth.
"Tell me all your stories/tell me where you've been/were all those thoughts just work of fiction."
Needless to say it's an amazing song, Social Repose is an awesome artist and in my opinion should be known more than he is.
