As the Author of this, and most of the 100+ other lyrics for The Freeze, I've gotta say that this song's caused us more trouble than it's worth. First, the complete tune was written by Bill Close and I in about 15 minutes. We wrote it half jokingly, simply to show how easy it is to write a "pop punk" song. Curtis at taang records (unfortunately our label then) heard it and was convinced "this one's going to break you guy's BIG! It's a hit!". Then he told us he wanted to do a video shoo for it, for MTV's "120 Minutes". None of us agreed with his choice of that song being THE public representation of our Punk Band. We'd already released the two strongest songs from the album as a double A sided single: "Floodlights" and "Talking Bombs", either of which, the band thought acceptable for a video. Curtis refused to pay for any video not "Powder, Rock and Pills"... When the video was finally made and given to MTV, they refused to play it unless we "changed the title to something less drug related." "Nope" I told Curtis who was pleading with us to go a long with MTV's request, "I hate MTV, I didn't wanna do a video for this song anyways and nobody's going to censor what I write. MTV never played it, Curtis cried, and we were through with MTV forever..
