I love this song.
I think it means his woke up from dreaming of this girl he loved that has killed herself and he his been drinking to relieve the pain. Then his remembering things and how good it felt like breakfast together and when she led him upstairs. He is then trying to find her because he wants to marry her but no one has seen her and then he realises shes killed herself. She then says that shes done something terrible and I think its that she didn't mean for him to fall for her and now shes killed herself and shes watching above. I'm not sure if his saying his going home as in home or as in heaven home but id like to think its home.
