My immediate reaction was of this person returning to her hometown after 9/11, having lost childhood friends in the tragedy. (i know she is not an american. The story can be ficticious. Or she may know of a story about one of the scores of victims from other countries) I heard it first in june of this year, so it isn't the date now that affects my thinking. In the big city, it's easier to get caught up in the flurry of activity around you. But returning home. All your feelings are laid bare and resound, in the quiet around you.
