It couldn't be about working to spoil his wife in 1965, since John Lennon wrote the song in 1964, and he wasn't dumped--he dumped his wife for Yoko Ono in 1967. The song is actually about working so hard, yet not caring because when he comes home he's so happy to come home to someone who loves him and makes him feel so good. Honestly, early Beatles songs aren't that complicated in their meaning.
