This song is about an individual that was shut away since childhood. He wasnt loved, acknowledged, he was just cast aside. Growing up like this took its toll, and seeing someone famous that has everything and the adoration of millions strikes a chord of jealousy or envy in this person. He wants to be noticed. He wants his parents to acknowledge he exists. He holds no malice toward the celebrity, the celebrity is simply his doorway to being famous. "i want to bathe in your light, i want to be on the news. To me, this song is all about gun violence. He was ahead of his time. He was that boy with the toy gun who decided to shoot up a school just to get his 15 minutes of fame. Hence the lyric If I take your life, it's nothing personal. Janey lane was such an underrated songwriter who will sadly be remembered for Cherry Pie instead of this brilliant album.
