This song is from the point of view of the deceived. They are saying that after death, heaven isn't all that it's cracked up to be. That all of the things we hope for, even through bad times, we will never end up with, even after we die. "tell that the promised have been failed" means, we get our hopes up for going to a better place because we do the right thing, but we end up just a dead person with nothing. "behold your fellow man through centuries of control,.
Adhering to the decrees of a manufactured god" could be saying that us as humans worship a god who we either have a poor perception of, or doesn't even exist. Or maybe it means we look toward to wrong things for leadership like the president and gov't. This song sounds great, but it's a very sad song about dead people telling us to wake up and smell the coffee.
