Driver's seat is about a guy who is married but has the hots for another girl. Jenny was sweet. Means he really likes the girl, but she doesn't notice him much. On trouble and strife. That is a london cockney term for "the wife" his wife, and she has another way of looking at life. She's probably got his kids at home and no longer can go out dancing like he's doing on saturday nights. The news is blue. Well this means. Jenny finds out about the wife at home. And she kicks him to the curb. Pick up your feet. That means he has to start to settle down and conform to a normal way of everyday life. Their is no lead. That mean you don't have a choice. You get into the driver seat of your life, and you go until the end. Gonna dance the day away. Live like you want. If you can.

It's about getting behind the wheel and taking your life back and the direction you go is up to you because no one has control over you anymore. It saddened him that the break up took place but, life goes on. Driver's seat is a metaphor for taking your life back and hopeful, going in the right direction, a positive one
