I really do feel that this song is about lucifer, and describes his fall from glory.
"i prefer a sunless sky to the glittering and stinging in my eye" - this is referring to how lucifer prefers darkness rather than the glory of heaven.
"feel so light" is repeated over and over in the song, which correlates directly with the meaning of lucifer's name - "the light bearer".
The song goes on to describe the descent and ultimately the impact of reaching earth. Lucifer crashed through the shy and lit on fire, which actually correlates to the bible. In luke 10: 18, it says, "and he said unto them, i beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven. " this song perfectly describes that process.
"the universe is resting in my arms" - this line of the song connects with lucifer's perception and ultimate goal: "to be like the most high" (isaiah 14: 14).
