This song can mean for both Love Relationships and Friendships. The song is about a person who was there for their friend/lover in their hard and troubling times. But then when the person him/herself was in trouble, the friend/lover wasn't there for them even though they said they would be there. Since his/her friend/lover came to him (of all people) when they were down in troubling times. He decides to go and find that friend/lover (which didn't even care about the person) because he has no choice and no one to go to.

The speaker met or found someone with whom he fell in love. The person brought richness and meaning to his life but this person didn't stay, even though he hoped she would. She must have promised always to be there for him but she had to go. He misses her and feels they were both compatible and destined to be together, so he is following all the signs (or any sign) that will connect them again. Until then, he remains haunted by her memory, the sound of her voice and the feelings he felt when they were together.

This song is about the singer is in love with a girl but isn't loved back. He uses a lot of metaphors. When he says the roads lead back to you he means instead that the signs show that they were meant to be and he cant do anything about it. The theme is that if you love something but arnt loved back let it go, but if your loved back peruse it.

The guy was caught being intimate with another person by his lover. He decides to go and find his lover because he wanted to explain and ask for her forgiveness. He was in trouble because he thought his lover will forgive him. But his lover run away and before he could patch things up with her. His lover was gone. He has a choice since it involved him and his lover. There is always a choice. If there is no one to go to, be free and direct so both will know what's going on. People care.

I think it means he got caught with another girl and his girlfriend left him. The guy tried to fix things with his girlfriend and apologize, but it was too late. She was one. It shows this in the music video for Maps. Disagree, guys must make sure that you don't mess up with your girl whether she is in front of you or when she is not around! Also for gals who have boyfriend!

The song is about somebody who took care of their love when they were upset or hurt but then when the persons was upset or hurt the love didn't do anything and now the person wants to find their love who didn't care about the person and can't get over the person.
