    Growing up. This song signifies the importance of childhood, and how she believes that the world has changed every perspective of the child they once knew. 'quick to start talking, ' means that when you mess up, most likely everyone is going to know. They don't even think about your past or your future, they just gossip about what wrong you are doing in the present. The points about guns she is trying to make is that guns kill, of course, but that child that was once so pure, so cute, so innocent, killed a man. We take lives, not understanding how big of a deal it is until it is ours at stake. I think this song has a beautiful meaning and I definitely agree with her.

    In the first verse, when lights says that "it gets like a prison in the body i'm living in", I feel that it refers to how the older you are, the more you know about life and it's no longer as simple as when you were a little kid and sometimes, you just want to go back to those times but instead, you feel like you're caged inside of yourself. This point is further backed up by the line "wish i were a little girl without the weight of the world. " the "chorus" for this song talks about how she wishes that we could all go back to the beginning, start new. "before we were men" could possibly be referring to the biblical story of adam and eve and how god "created" them and how we are not perfect. "let's play pretend" could be taken as a little girl playing pretend with her friends or it could be taken as this person wishing for a different world and so, pretend their utopia.
