I feel this song is about that terrible drowning feeling of losing your best friend, your lover, your life to death. The lyrics I feel are too powerful to be a break-up song I think this is actually about the death of a love one.
I feel that in lines like "If you loved me, why'd you leave me' the artist portrays how it is possibly true love if it doesn't end happily like in the books. However in lines like" to find somebody like you' it shows how we can all heal.

It is truly a beautiful composition of music and lyrics.

This song is about an insurmountable loss..i lost my father to suicide a year ago and im constantly wondering that if he loved me enough he wouldn't of left. Its not that simple. The pain he felt ill never understand and im happy hes at peace. Thats what im supposed to say. Im mad. Angry. Infuriated. How could you leave me. Me. Your daughter. Alone. Wondering. This song makes me shake in pain..because i would give my body instead. Take me. Thats how i feel. That when he left my soul left too. So my physical body means nothing. Take it. I feel like ive been scooped out.. the joy..the reason for being..is gone..take my body. Its only a shell.

This song once broke me. I listened to it after a heartbreak and cringed to every word as it made me crumble. It could be about death, but it is also applicable to heart breaks. I don't think any song has had a stronger emotional effect on me than this song. This song was actually so powerful, that months later, when I found a cover by Ellie Goulding, it actually brought back everything I felt the first time I heard it, without me having any control what so ever. If you are in a dark place because of a heartbreak and want to let out your emotions this song will do it for you. The lyrics are so sincerely written, with so much true emotion, it is an incredible song.

My mother had been sick for four years and the doctors couldn't cure her. In those four years, my mother kept telling me "its better if mother dies early, because mother doesn't want to be your burden". She kept telling me this almost everyday, and I would answer her "No, don't give up, you will be healed soon". But when I saw her body became thinner and there was no improvement, she was so tormented by her illness, I thought "is it better for her to die? maybe she will be free"
So when my mother died, I only cried once, I said to myself "it's alright, she is no longer suffering".
But my heart suddenly felt empty. I worked as usual, raised my little sister, and I thought this kind of life was good. Until I heard this song on the way to my home, I stopped and listened to this song carefully.
I cried so hard, I didn't care about anything, I only wanted to cry.
I lied, I didn't want my mother to die, why did she want to die? Why did she want to leave me? I wanted to follow her, we could be together like before. But no, she left me alone.
When I was in school, the doctor called me saying that my mother wanted to see me, I had a bad feeling and hurriedly go to the hospital. When my mother saw me, she smiled and then closed her eyes forever. This was her last goodbye, she waited for me, and I'm glad I could make it in time.
My mother is the best mother in the world.
