Imagine Dragons – Gold lyrics
Fast comes the blessing of all that you dreamed
But then comes the curses of diamonds and rings
Only at first did it have it's appeal
But now you can’t tell the false from the real

Who can you trust?
Who can you trust
?

When everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold, gold
Everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold
Gold

Gold
Gold
Gold

Statues and empires are all at your hands
Water to wine and the finest of sands
When all that you have’s turnin’ stale and it’s cold
Oh, you no longer fear when your heart’s turned to gold

Who
can you trust?
Who can you trust?

When
everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold, gold
Everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold
Gold
Gold
Gold
Gold

I’m dying to feel again
Oh, anything at all
But, oh, I feel nothing, nothing, nothing,
Nothing

When everything
, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold, gold
Everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold, gold
Gold
Gold
Gold
Gold

For me this depicts the point of our lives where we achieve pure success after every hardship that has happened. Our dreams that finally came true will bring blessings in our lives. Blessings, be it love, money, house or car. However, once you get more than this just one penny you once had, you'll never be able to escape the desire to want more of what you call your own 'diamonds and rings'. You'll realize then that it's appeal will not last forever, because before you know it, it has already corrupted your own values as a human being - blinding you from what is really important; from what is really good and treasured. Now, you can trust no one, when everyone around you has been blinded by the same gold you're standing on. You don't know who's sincere or not, who wants your money only or not. In my opinion what he meant by 'everything you touch turns to gold' is the cage that binds you from the rest of all humane emotions because whoever you touch, whoever you meet or ask help for - all they will see is the gold that wraps you too and will want you for the sake of it. Those who were once humble and honest will be influenced by the power that you bring and would want it too. Lastly, when it said that your heart will no longer fear once it turns into gold, perhaps it means that one we become to indulged in these earthly things we will lose the fear to the Lord and losing loved ones since all our focus will be on material things. You start to feel nothing, start to regret all the things you've left behind for gold; the sincerity that you have once seen before everyone started wearing masks to get a glimpse of your wealth. Sorry for the long meaning but this is just one of my most fave songs. I think this is quite negative but I guess we can all learn from it.

I think this song talks about pure greed and hatred people can have for others. He talks about everything he touches turning to gold, which in itself is a direct correlation to the story of King Midas, which many others have explained. The main character (whom we can assume is the lead singer,) talks about "the blessings of all that you dreamed," presumably meaning his dreams have been achieved, however we are about to see how it turns for the worse. He then goes on to explain how "the curses of diamonds and rings" fall upon him, which says that even the most valuable of items (diamonds and rings) actually lose their appeal, simply by the implication that they create. They create an implication of happiness and wealth, however wealth can never come with lasting happiness, and so they are in effect a trick played upon ourselves. "Only at first did it have its appeal, but now you can't tell the false from the real," explains how the character fell for the "trick" I mentioned beforehand, and was happy for a short period of time, but suddenly realizes that it won't last, and that it is now extremely difficult to tell between who genuinely wants to help you, and who wants to pretend like they're helping you, but actually want to stop your progress, like a stab in the back.
This song is very, very deep and explains a lot of the world's problems with lies, distrust and greed. It is a very deep song and that is why I really like it.

This song, the lyrics for me, is more like fighting against your own desire and desperation. People tend to be insatiable for love, power, fame, and, of course, money, which in most time are hard to achieve all. Gold is a symbol of these kind of good things. Like a stimulant, even if you get some, you still want more. As an exchange, you will have to lose some valuable staff for your desire. That is the endless struggling of our life. Isn't it desperate? But still life goes one.

This song reminds me of King Midas. Also when you get material wealth people start to get consumed by greed and in part lose part of their humanity. Greed consumes the rich. These riches blind you from what is really important and you turn greedy and you won't have any fear because you will be extremely wealthy." First comes the blessing that you've dreamed but then comes the curses of diamonds and rings." When the humble people get rich the greed of being rich consumes them and they get evil and greedy.

This song reminds me of a story called the golden touch in which a king is granted the ability to turn things into gold. He loves this power but he then discovers it isn't every thing he always wanted. He tries to eat food but can't, it simply turns to gold hence the lines".

I think it refers to the fact that when you're famous, everything you touch becomes worth something and everyone judges you by your outside not your inside. Like if he touches or signs something then it instantly gains value because he touched it. I'm saying this last part to meet the min.

Wow this band sold their soul to the devil.

He granted them success, everything they touch is turned to gold, yet they have lost their soul, they are dead inside.

They felt dupped, "who can you trust?" The devil tricked them and they found out too late.

May God grant you forgiveness, we are all sinners, you are not alone.
