He loves her, she loves him. They break up for some odd reason. They move on. They get new lovers. She calls him upset one night and confesses she still loves him. He comes to realize that he loves her still as well. His current girlfriend knows he still loves his ex, but doesn't confront him. She loves him too much to confront him. He feels bad for loving his ex while being with his current girlfriend. Hence the "my girls in the next room."

The meaning of this song is very simple. They both never forgot the love that they shared while they were together they never let go of the feeling between them. I can definitly relate to this song because the love of my life is with someone else, however, we both love each other very much. And to anyone who is in a similar situation. Never forget that person because you never know what can happen in the very near future.

At the and of each chorus it say "And I never wanna say goodbye". I've listened to this closely and that is not what they sing. It sounds like "let it die", "let it lie" or "let love die". I've been trying to figure out the lyrics but it's just not coming out clear anywhere I look. Something like "Let it lie", like they left it laying behind makes more sense. Does anyone else hear this but me?

I really loved this song because everytime I heard that song, I had a good feeling so everytime I woke up I remember all my friends and other people that they love me very much haha. And then some people laughing when they hear that song and I feel they abuse that song. But for me that was the very beautiful song that I never heard. And that was the end of my story. :)

This is one of those songs that are meaningless until you live through it. I disagree that it's about "cheaters". It's about people dealing with the realities of life - the guy and the girl in this song were once in a relationship but broke it off and after time, started new relationships with other people. The problem with a really great relationship (which is what these 2 had) is that you can't walk away from it without some regrets. Nobody's perfect and it's just human nature that when you remember someone, you have a tendency to gloss over the bad parts and think about the good (unless you were in an abusive, horrible relationship where both parties are better off without each other). So naturally, when the girl calls up her ex crying (probably after getting in a fight with her current boyfriend), the ex hears her voice and remembers all the great times they had together and confesses that he dreams of her sometimes and sometimes even wishes that he was still with her. What he doesn't say is that the times that he dreams of her and wishes he was still with her are probably the times that his girlfriend and him aren't getting along.
This is the kind of song you listen to and smile to yourself about if you can relate. We all have things in the past that we enjoy going back and revisiting, but we do it in secret because it would be cruel to the people in our lives if we told them or others that we were dreaming about former boyfriends or girlfriends and wishing they were them. It's fine for people to love this song and to relate to it. Just remember it's a fantasy world you're visiting when you hear/sing/think about it, and you broke up with the person for a reason. But if you really, truly feel this way all the time about someone else, you should probably break off the relationship you're in and get some therapy to get over the ex you're still obsessing about, or at least tell them to stop calling you because it's not good for either one of you.
It's still a great song. Lead singer has an awesome voice, expresses emotion very well.
