Personally, this reminds me of oswin oswald. She thinks and believes she is human, boarding up her door and ignoring the daleks day after day. When she's really ignoring the urge to fully convert. In the end the doctor tells her she's a dalek, but even then she won't accept it. That's reflected in the lyrics, since she longs to still be human, to run away with her chin boy, but she can't, so she gives her life in order to save him.

I can't say what it means, but I do know that it is a very deep song. Very touching it gives me goosebumps and for me, only really great songs can evoke that reaction in me. Her voice just speaks the emotions through the chorus and verses. When I close my eyes and listen to this song, I can just see amy walking through this oasis through a desert and it's as though she is fading away. When she sings "alone, and lost in paradise" I can picture her reaching out her hand as she fades away which kind of links back to the line "all i feel is this cruel, wanting". Overall I absolutely love this song. It is really a work of art in music.

I believe that what she means is that the had left us (the fans) down by letting the studio many times, and even when the promised us a new record for so long they took many years to do it and I think that's why she says "all the promises i made just to let you down" and maybe she wanted us to run away, not for hating us, just cause she need a break of the fame and busy life, and the pain she said could be all the months she disappeared and maybe in a point of her life she wanted to be a normal person without busy life and that's why she says "as much as i'd like the past not to exist" but she could've felt tied to us and keeping loving us and that's the reason she said: "i'm just as scared as you" to not continue doing it all.

Means she and he doesn't know that they have been falling in love all that time. And she make him believe but she broke it, and all the promises was all a lie and she use him to just let him down. And she can only see his shadow cause they won't let her go. She like the past or to exist and they all run away, then shes lost in paradise.

No body has left a comment in this songg howw sadd! This is one of my favorite evanescnece songs and that is very hardd to sayy! I love evanescence and would love to go to one of her concertss! It will be a real dream come true! I love evanescnece I even had a dream last night that I went to one of her concertss! I thoughtt my dreamm was real but it wasntt I wish it was! Amy leee is so awesome she will alwayz be my favorite singer of all timez! :)evanescence!

I have nothing left and all I feel is this cruel wantingg! I love imaginary tourniquet weight of the world my heart is broken away from me! And of course broken, before the dawn, and anywhere! I forgot hello even though hello is a very heartbreaking songg:(i remember the first evanescence songs I ever heard were my immortal and hello! And that is when I fell in love with evanescence! :)
