Dance Gavin Dance – Evaporate lyrics
(feat. Andrew Wells)

[Intro: Jon Mess]
Squawk, seven-five
Zero zero mane
World in a barrel dripping some blood

Three dead riders
Grippin' the reigns of saturn
In da last plastic cup

[Verse 1: Tilian]
Couldn't make me into a hero
Couldn't turn me into a coward
Whatever history that you wrote
Blew away in the wind on your way down from your ivory tower
Your words lost their power
You can aim down fire
We'll be down here living how we want

[Breakdown: Jon Mess and Andrew Wells]
Never coming back, never coming back
Run into a smack with a hand to deliver
Never coming back, never coming back
Run into a smack with a hand to deliver

You always see right through me
When I am lost and out of place
You always watch me stumble down
While you wait for me to drown

[Verse 2: Andrew Wells]
Of all the ways I've given in
I can't believe it's not enough
To satisfy my endless search for any form of love

So I will stay my course until you break my wrists
Do everything you can to keep me silent
You wanna start a war with all that I stand for

[Chorus: Tilian]
You always see right through my
My masquerade
I know there's nowhere to hide
I'm cellophane

[Bridge: Jon Mess]
I feel like I'm gonna stay
I feel like I'm gonna change
I feel like I'm gonna stay

[Breakdown: Jon Mess and Andrew Wells]
Never coming back, never coming back
Run into a smack with a hand to deliver
Never coming back, never coming back
Run into a smack with a hand to deliver

You always see right through me
When I am lost and out of place
You always watch me stumble down
While you wait for me to drown

[Chorus: Tilian]
You always see right through my
My masquerade
I know there's nowhere to hide
I'm cellophane

All of the handsome fiction
Will melt away
And when the flame burns brighter
Evaporate

You always see right through my
My masquerade
I know there's nowhere to hide
I'm cellophane

All of the fabrications
Will melt away
And when the flame burns hotter
Evaporate

[Outro: Tilian and Jon Mess]
(Step back, let go, I believe there's meaning, no I believe there's nothing)(x2)
Oh, you should have listened to your friends
You would have been over this by now
Over this by now, I'm found
(Who drains the blood from my head? I do do
Who accepts me as I am? I do I do)

(Repeat repeat, our history)(x2)
What excuses do you make?
We own the night
For one good note

Well don't it feel good?
You got what you paid for
Well don't it feel good?
You got what you paid for

It is so very evident now after being a lifetime fan what this song is about. This is the bands message to Jonny Craig's sad but ruthless addiction. There telling him at the end that if he would have just listen to them he would have gotten through his addiction. The part where it features features Andrew Wells from Eidola is supposed to be Jonny speaking on his behalf, or so I imagine. Jon Mess's vocals of "Never coming back, never coming back, run into a smack like the hand to deliver" sounds like a potential brawl or speak of one and him yelling that he is 'Never coming back' . It's really tragic, I don't know if I listen to this album as often, sorta breaks my heart what happened to Jonny, maybe he deserved it, maybe he didn't- either way it is sad and most hope these types of tragedies don't happen to people.

I first want to apologize if this doesn’t resonate with you, but it really blew my mind when I heard these lyrics. My perceived meaning doesn’t reflect my beliefs or the fact that it’s true. But I hope you at least check this out. I believe that the 7500 mane is a reference to the great cycle of 3 great years. The great year is known as being 25,000 years, there’s only 3 great years before it’s the end of our cycle. The end of the great cycle is 75,000 years, which would’ve been at the end of 2012 if our years are correct. “3 dead riders gripping the reigns of Saturn in da last plastic cup” speaks loudly to the idea of death being imminent and/or out of our hands now. Saturn also holds a special place in Lucifeian beliefs, and being that he is known as the bringer or light (oddly enough), it’s very symbolic to ascension for those of the mystery school teachings; especially because the solar flash of light that is said to ensue at the end of the great year/cycle. Three is also a sacred number and known as the holy trinity. The idea of not being able to be turned into a hero or a coward is reference to our polarity. We’ll keep repeating history and restarting the cycles if we don’t choose our polarity, service to self or service to others. Their words losing their power, are the words of religion and/or mystery school teachings losing their power. And as these words lose their power they’ll/we’ll all be living on earth however we want. The handsome fiction and fabrications will melt away is a reference to ascension and all the story’s being set aside by the truth. Ascension is a mystery school teaching, and a teaching of 34 religions around the world including Christianity, where the sun puts out a solar flash at the end of an age, ex: the world ending in fire.. an age being the great cycle. Hence the name and meaning of evaporate, we’ll all evaporate during the ascension. He lines “I think I’m gonna stay, I think I’m gonna change” is a reference to when the ascensions happens, it’s said that if you’re worthy you will ascend into a light body, and remain here on earth. But then the chorus of “never coming back, never coming back. Run into a hand with a smack to deliver” is the other end of the spectrum of not staying and changing. Evaporating so to speak. Hence the self doubt which is made present throughout the entire song. I know the ending of this song seems to only reference to the history of Dance Gavin Dance but if you look closer between the lines, there’s a lot more to it. “I believe there’s meaning, no I believe there’s nothing” is another reference to polarity and never deciding and more self doubt, “who drains the blood from my head I do, I do”, “who accepts me as I am, I do, I do” is an example of them accepting themselves and justifying them living the way they want. “Repeat, repeat. Our history” is literal, then they’re asking you what excuses do you make? This would be your own excuses to justify the way you live.”well don’t it feel good? You got what you paid for” the question is once again, literal. Are you happy with your actions? You got what you paid for, a repeat of history and evaporation from never choosing polarity. I hope you found this interesting!
