My nearly 12 year battle with drugs
every word brings to light my emotional struggle. I imagine a baggy full of vicodin as I sing the lyrics. I survived but I watched it take the lives of so many friends and wondered why not me. I was the one taking 20 a day. I was lucky and no one can make a person stop no words or force. It just happens when they are ready. I turned 29 yesterday.

What i got from the song and video was....as an old man he is remembering his life the pple and pets emerced in the water are his memories that he can still "see" and some are just outrageous or mixed up thoughts and memories. As if his mimd is deteriorating. As a blind man now those are all he has left. When he spots himself in the water and pulls himself up onto the boat he is not ready to fully let go of himself and is trying to keep what memories he can they keep him sane and at peace. As a child.he is hiding from the storm happening and finds comfort in himself ....Who knows how it feels once you are at the last stage of Alzhiemers or Dementia this reminds me that if we are lucky to live till old age ...at what cost?

loved this song as a teenager and adult didnt really get what it meant then but nowdays to me basically talking about (based on perception) its how the singer felt when On drugs (esp the lyrics When you are with me

We'll fly" -- or the 2nd one could be about an old friend (literally) that he lost (they left) bc of his drug . depression issues .. and he catches up with them again years down the track maybe when hes cleaned himself up and sober / free from the depression and pain ?
