Code Orange – Kill The Creator lyrics

I'm not entirely sure what the meaning is. But I read an interview where Code Orange was calling out bands with "fake rockstar mentalities", specifically Asking Alexandria. The type of bands who refuse to get too political, which inherently attracts some nasty people into your fan clubs. And since that interview I can kind of piece together what this might be?

"These maggots always have their say / These cowards always have to win" makes me think it's talking about stuck up bands obviously getting whatever they want because they're famous.

"You've misused your influence / You've confused our congruence for cluelessness" makes me think that they're criticising the bands for not using their influence to their full potential. Only singing about vague concepts of mental health or hate, without getting too political to avoid risk losing their fame and then eventually just becoming blank slates in general. As well as criticizing those bands for looking down on smaller bands for getting more political. Congruence - these smaller bands express their specific beliefs openly and their beliefs are congruent with the hardcore genre. It's not because they're clueless - they KNOW the general audience won't agree with what they're saying. But it's a part of who they are & the genre.

"Broken bodies to match your six month friendship" could be addressing how the "bargin-bin death metal bands" (as code orange once described them as) use other bands & celebrities to gain more popularity before ditching them all together.

"Bully mentality / Mentor Hypocrisy/ Political Strategy" Could also be addressing how hypocritical it is for these bands to be acting like mentors to the genre when their political strategy (or lack of one) and bully mentality go against the genre in general.

Honestly, the first time I heard this song I assumed it was about god & christianity. But after the small interview I read, it may be closer to this. As always, my interpretation could be completely wrong or missing something huge.
